Acknowledgements

The faculty, students, journalists and researchers who have been and will be involved in this project would like to express our gratitude firstly to the people of Buzzard Point who allowed us to take photos and film in their neighborhood and for sharing their experiences with us.

The idea for this project was inspired by the people of Southeast and Southwest DC, initiated by Professor Monica Sanders, and brought to reality with the generous support of the Georgetown University Office of Mission and Ministry. Faculty and students participated from across the university community, including the Georgetown University Law Center, Georgetown College, the Walsh School of Foreign Service, and the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies and with generous assistance from the Lauinger and Georgetown Law Center libraries.

Additional support for the mapping projects came from ESRI. The research and journalism team from Climate Central media offered research insights and help with publicity for this stage of the project.

While this began in the Summer of 2022, the goal was to encourage more engagement from the university community and other allies. Our hope is that this acknowledgment page and proper acknowledgment of the Buzzard Point community will continue to grow.
